The Utopia Walks series combines photographs taken in San Francisco with fragments of analogue paintings and generative image processes. The images occupy a space between architecture, memory and imagination. Familiar structures appear, dissolve and reassemble into places that feel strangely recognisable. For years, I carried an idea of another place in my head. A place that seemed more promising than the one I was in.
