Utopia Walks combines photographs taken in San Francisco with fragments of analogue paintings and generative image processes. The images occupy a space between architecture, memory and imagination. Familiar structures appear, dissolve and reassemble into places that feel strangely recognisable.
For years, I carried an idea of another place in my head. A place that seemed more promising than the one I was in. The works in this series grew out of that realisation. They are not portraits of real locations, but of the hopes, projections and expectations we attach to them.
Perhaps every utopia begins that way.
